Child handover planner for clearer pickup arrangements

Make the time and place clear before pickup day, and keep proposed changes distinct from the current schedule.

Put the practical details in one place

A handover record can bring the scheduled time and location together so both parents can refer to the same practical details. CoParentOS uses the existing handover workflow within the arrangement you select, including its saved locations and regional address lookup.

A useful record identifies the date, time and place clearly. If a pickup happens at school on some days and another location on others, avoid relying on an informal label such as “usual place.” Check the actual location saved for that handover.

A proposed change is not an agreed change

The handover workflow separates a scheduled handover from a proposal to alter it. A proposed time change goes to the other parent for review. Approval, rejection and withdrawal follow the relevant parent’s role, with the proposal history retained.

That distinction matters when plans change quickly. Sending a proposal does not mean it has been approved, and creating a schedule does not imply both parents agreed to it. Check the current status before relying on a different pickup time.

A short preparation checklist

  • Confirm the arrangement and children involved.
  • Check the current date, time zone and pickup location.
  • Review whether any proposed change is still pending.
  • Organise the items the child needs for the next home.
  • Use the agreed communication method if something changes on the day.

For example, a school closure may mean the usual pickup location no longer makes sense. Record and discuss the change instead of leaving the existing event in place and relying on a separate text that may be missed.

Multiple arrangements, familiar controls

A parent in a blended family can switch to the relevant arrangement without rebuilding a separate account. Saved locations and handover records remain within that family’s workspace. Regional address lookup is the existing tool; you do not need a new lookup service for each arrangement.

Common questions

Does the app decide where a handover should happen?

No. Record the location appropriate to your existing arrangements and circumstances. The app does not determine a safe or legally required meeting place.

Is check-in data continuous location tracking?

Do not confuse a check-in record with live tracking. Review the existing check-in controls and what you are submitting; this page does not promise continuous location monitoring.

Can it replace a supervised handover service?

No. A scheduling and record-keeping tool is not a supervision service. Use the support and arrangements appropriate to your family. Our calmer handovers article covers practical preparation.
